"Supreme Leader" about to meet his maker...

The word around the proverbial camp fire in cyber space is that Iran's self proclaimed spiritual leader Ayatollah Khamnei has passed on. The rumour first came about by the prominent American scholar Dr. Michael Ledeen who had cited one of his sources in Iran as stating it to be true. It has been known that Khamnei has been suffering from poor health for some time and according to Dr. Ledeen, the "venerable" Ayatollah has liver cancer.
Recently in response to the rumours buzzing about, Iran's foreign ministry on Sunday denied the rumours and stated that he was in good health and that they wished him a long "long life and lasting health." Khamnei is expected to meet other high ranking officials today so let us see how all of this will play out.
I believe that he is still alive but close to death and his passing on could be a good thing but it could bring some really foul consequences for the Iranian people. You see, Iran isn't exclusively ruled by one man or one family but by a group of men and families who comprise mulitiple centers of power within Iran, i.e. an oligarchy. Iran right now is undergoing a power struggle between these factions and it will soon intensify.
One of three individuals will take over the role of "God's representative on earth." It could be the billionaire mullah Rafsanjani, Khamenie's son or Ahmadinejad's spiritual mentor Ayatollah Yazdi. None of these guys are in it for doing God's work as we know it. Rafsanjani and his family have a vast political and financial empire in Iran and if he took over it would probably be the least worst possibility than Khamnei's son and certainly Mr. Yazdi.
You see Ayatollah Yazdi openly supports the murder of civilians for political gains, he is vehemently anti democratic and he is a member of a cult called the Hojatiehs. This cult is basicallly obsessed with the end of times and they believe that if man brings about enough chaos on earth then that will speed up the coming of the 12th Imam, a.k.a. the messiah.
These guys are that bad that EVEN KHOMEINI regarded tham as heretics. So hopefully Mr. Yazdi will not become Iran's supreme leader. Also Ahmadinejad has raised so many heckles both inside and outside Iran that he probably won't finish out a full term. He is causing so many problems for the powers that be that they will see to it that he is forced to resign or will be assassinated.
So chances are that the Iranian people will not get the freedom, prosperity, opportunities and respect that they so deserve. More than likely, Rafsanjani will become the Supreme Leader, Ahmadinejad will be swept aside, and business will go on as usual.
